I would like to propose that we change the rule around 2-way contracts and which players can be sent to the minor (for next season)...
All these guys that are signing for $3M or $4M only to actually receive 10% of that on the farm is kind of ridiculous...
There is no way in hell that some of these guys would sign a two-way contract like that! We need to have a way to control 2-way contracts moving forward. Thoughts?

correct me if i'm wrong since its been a bit since i played with the sim but I don't think it would allow for anything like that.. would have to be manually counted which would be tedious and difficult
im not sure if LA is right or not, but I agree with the change. I dont think 2 way contracts should be offered to guys over 25 or something like that. Either 1 way AHL or 1 way NHL.
Maybe we should have a running thread for "Suggested" rule changes to be looked at by the BOD at seasons end every year? Maybe it could be this one and be stickied and someone could edit the first post whenever a serious rule consideration arises. Then it gets dealt with at an annual BOD meeting?

yeah, good idea
any decisions to be made for an entire season down the road by the committee sounds good to me
ideally the BOD meeting would be in late winter/early spring/preplayoffs to discuss the following season
set the rules before we pay in the spring and certainly before the entry draft, summer trading, and UFA period.
As I mentioned in a previous post, you simply need to have a max salary for farm players. Like no players over 1.5 million salary allowed on the farm...

Simple
great idea: put that on the BOD spring meeting agenda!
(though guys like Samsonov and Nedved have been sent down in the NHL for poor performance, and they were making much more than 1.5 mill... maybe 2.5 or 3.0 mill ought to be the limit. but something simple is a good idea)
i like the idea of letting g.m.s offer one-way or two-way contracts
though having a 70 OV is in effect a one-way contract and having 69 ov or under is a two-way contract
if the rule ends up changing eventually to a set salary threshhold between farm and pro, then we'll have a bunch of g.m.s bidding during UFA at the threshhold level (e.g., 2.0 mill threshhold, a bunch of 1.999 mill bids at the same time to open UFA)
Yeah, but when they got sent down, they still made the 2.5M+... They didn't sign to make 2.5M, then find out that they were going to the farm to make $250k...
