Over $279M spent on free agents to this point and not a player has even signed yet... Crazy times in the BRHL2.

yeah, I wonder how many teams are spending over 44 million and are going to be desperate to shed salaries... should be some interesting shuffling after FA.

I think we'll be wising we kept a stringent 44 million cap throughout FA once this craziness is done...

HOLY ****!! This is stupid I can count on one hand the deals that make sense at this point, I hope everyone learns something from this and we don't have to go through this crazyness next year!

Oh wait everyone's cap space is going to be tied up in this years signings and there will be no room to sign anyone so it shouldn't be a problem!!!!!!!

When this crazyness is all said and done I'm going to start taking bets on the first team to go over the cap cause I GURANTEE it's going to happen this year.

hahahaha I agree with both of you. This is retarded for sure. People are throwing money around pretty easy. Us included.

One thing though... Next year the cap goes up 7.5M or something... that sucks... cause this might happen again.

I think that the fresh UFA period from the NHL is still in our minds. No one seems to put 2 and 2 together though to figure out that the money thrown around recently in the NHL is a 51.5M dollar cap world compared to our 44M dollar cap this season...

yeah, sure wish we had the nhl's cap size hmm

signing players to multi-year deals is a way to help one's team avoid escalating salaries

it'll be interesting to see how many UFAs are signed to only one year deals

(I signed two players to 3-yr deals, three players to 2-yr deals and only to-be-retired Turgeon to a 1-yr deal.)

There is a big difference in the NHL and what seems to be happening in the BRHL, in the NHL the 3rd and 4th liners are now getting squezzed and aren't getting signed for very much, while the 3rd and 4th liners in this league are getting 2mil a season **cough Chris Simon cough**

the 71 ov wouldnt have been gotten for much less on the market!

his 80+ intensity and 80+ strength with some puck control and scoring was deemed valuable to the islanders, his team, and he's a 2-year deal, expected by this g.m. to re-rate upward a little offensively (was on a 6-game scoring streak before 'the incident' last season)... team mascot anyways smile

Problem is some of us have no choice. I in no way want to make these type of bids !  Not even close,  but if I do not try to fill a couple of major voided spots on my team I run the risk of not only falling out of money contention now but for seasons on end. I want to have a shot at the money otherwise what is the point of playing in this league.

What Sabres did in the first season was great but what they really did was sacrificed their first 50 dollars on a team that had no chance at immediate impact. They have secured a bonafide team for quite a few years once they mature but they were taking a major chance that the league would run longer than a year or two as we know most leagues never make past season 2.

Again I don't want to pay the prices but the alternatives have been looked at and are not even being considered at this point. Unfortunately even I have a limit as to what I can spend due to the cap, so I may just get completely shut out anyhow.   weirdface
