Willing to take on salary now or waiting until after the UFA process?

Entirely possible, but not much more.. Gilbert is a borderline prospect who only really garners interest from crazy oilers fans... I think a 2nd rounder is pretty decent for him...

Zajac is a tough one, he's a bit of an unknown still... will he reach his 2nd line potential?  Will he be better?  Worse?  He's a gamble, I should be able to draft a 2nd line potential guy easily with a first rounder, and while I'm waiting for him, I've got Joe Corvo who only found his groove in OTT late last season, hopefully he continues it this year.

Short answer .. YES .. Long answer .. only if it's a really sweet deal.  I am more than happy walking in to FA with all this cap space and doing some serious shopping.

a 6'2 21 year old center who put up a 40 point rookie season, and you don't think he'll reach his "2nd line potential" ? Geez, he is already a 2nd line center. evileye

I think that PHX has done a pretty good assessment of his team initially. Hes protecting the right players IMO, except yes, Zajac would have been high on my unavailable list as well as most GMs here are suggesting. He did get decent return either way though.

My only problem with the return is how quickly he was traded....a half hour after posting him available? I would have liked a chance at him.

Yes, agreed, I was hesitant to trade him that quick too, but mr. pushy Kirk Shuck weaseled him outta me.  Either way, I am happy with the return, some may not think it was enough, but I do, and I don't really care what other people think of my deals anyway LOL.

Thanks, Zajac was initially on my unavailable list, but incessant nagging and a reasonable offer that gave me youth and talent now changed that.
