RFAs and such (also e-mailed)

The deadline to sign Restricted Free Agents and tag Unrestricted Free Agents is Sunday Night by 11:59:59 PM PST.

Restricted Free Agents are players who are 31 years and younger with 0 years left on their contract on the rosters page. Unrestricted Free Agents are players who are 32 years and older with 0 years left on their contract on the rosters page. (NOTE: The reason the ages changed was due to aging the FHL Sim a year. So thus a player last season who was 30 with 1 year left on his contract will now appear as 31 with 0 yrs left. Since the deadline has not passed, we still allow you to sign last years RFA's).

Failure to make an offer / qualify will release the player of rights and will become a UFA. Making and offer or qualifying the player will allow you to retain the players' rights into the Free Agency Signing Period. You will then have to match any offers thrown his way. If you do not match, you will be compensated accordingly. (Compensation scale can be found in the rules).

A majority of teams have made efforts to sign players and the process is going smoothly. Even for the newer GMs I'm pleased to say that they have stepped into their role and we haven't missed a step.

If you have already sent in offers, I have them. They are just in the process of being approved and negotiated. They will be taken care of by tomorrow evening. I plan to put out a list of all players who we have not gotten an offer on.

While the deadline to sign RFAs and tag UFAs is sunday. There is no deadline to sign players who were created via the FHL Sim from your prospect list. These are players put into Entry Level Contracts and will not be affected by the deadline. Some not ALL of these players can be identified by having $0,000 and 0 yrs left on their contract. You are free to negotiate deals with them now, but they won't be affected by the RFA / Tag deadline.

I don't know if I will get to some league issues tonight, but I expect to get a great deal done tomorrow. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

P.S. With the roll-back in RFA / UFA ages here's how ages and contract years will affect Free Agent Status.

The Chart is based on Off-Season and is read as followed. The Ages and Contract years are from RIGHT NOW.
So a player who is listed on the rosters page as 25 years old (NOW), with 3 years (NOW) left on their contract - they will be a UFA at the end of their contract which will be in the 2010 Offseason. While a 24 year old (NOW) with 3 years left on their contract will be an RFA.

THIS OFFSEASON:
UFA: 32 years old and older, 0 years left on contract.
RFA: 31 years old and younger, 0 years left on their contract. (Excluding FHL Sim created prospects)

NEXT OFFSEASON:
UFA: 30 years old and older, 1 year left on their contract.
RFA: 29 years old and younger, 1 year left on their contract.

2009 OFFSEASON:
UFA: 27 years old and older, 2 years left on their contract.
RFA: 26 years old and younger, 2 years left on their contract.

2010 OFFEASON:
UFA: 25 years old and older, 3 years left on their contract.
RFA: 24 years old and younger, 3 years left on their contract.

Enjoy!

The chart above was altered to show current ages. When I wrote it, the chart was listed for ages of that off season, with current years on contract.

This Chart might further explain the RFA Age Range:

RFA Age Range:
 offseason one 18-31
 offseason two 18-29
 offseason three 18-28
 offseason four 18-27

UFA Age Range:
 offseason one 32+
 offseason two 30+
 offseason three  29+
 offseason four 28+

So they have to be SIGNED by Sunday, or they have to have an offer by Sunday? Will we hear back about the offer the BOD presented us with that we accepted for JBO?

There has to be an offer on the table to them that is acceptable by the RFA Agent.

I do not plan on staying up till 2 am on Sunday night waiting for Offers to sign. So consider any offer sent on Sunday night your final offer to the player.

Thank you. That covers Norrena, Eriksson, Jonsson, Nolan, and Peltonen from my Isles.
