The New York Rangers made two moves tonight, the 1st with Vancouver bringing in young defenseman stud Anton Babchuk and shipping out young centerman prospect David Krejci. The Rangers liked the fact that Babchuk could step in and play minutes for them immediately whereas Krejci is still a year away and the Rangers have an abundance of young forwards especially centers at the moment.
The 2nd deal of the night was with the Atlanta Thrashers who picked up 2 3rd round picks and defensive centerman Johan Franzen from the Rangers in exchange for hard hitting leftwinger Raffi Torres. Torres grit and offensive punch is needed in the Rangers lineup and he'll be a welcome addition to our club.
The Rangers have not ruled out moving a couple other youngsters in exchange for a young goaltender as well. Look for New York to make this move fairly soon.
