When the rules say that the Lemieux tag can be used once every two years, can it be used in seasons 2 and 3? In other words, are they reset after every even season, or can they never be used in back to back years?
a very smart good question indeed.. never even thought about that.. cause it does state every 2 years... but doesn't give us the detail of whether 2 years after you use it.. or every 2 years.. so eg.. 1&2 yrs.... then 1 time in yrs 3&4, then one time in yrs 5&6....
but if i had an opinion i think it should be once you have used the lemieux tag you cannot not use it for 2 yrs from the time you used.... i think its simple that way.. wont cause confusion.. cause new gms will start to think.. they inherit a team and they might have a lemieux tag for season 3... when in fact a previous gm used it already in season 2.. and thus have to wait 2 more yrs..
but good debate question.. we'll see what the commishes have to say on this.
actually this isnt much of a debate, because if you guys remember when we were getting started, (or maybe it was a previous thread) it was stipulated that it was meant to be a once every 2 years thing.....
meaning you get 1 tag for years 1-2; and one tag for years 3-4; and one tag for years 5-6; etc, etc, etc....
I have been extremely conscious of this when dealing for players, because after acquiring smyth (and am gonna use the lemieux on him after NEXT season).
This might not affect me as much as it does other teams who have made deals with that in mind.

That's not how I understood it. I thought like Philly, you have 1 for yrs 1 and 2 and 1 for Yrs 3 and 4, makes more sense and easier to keep track of.
It's pretty clear in the rules: "B)If you do not use it in year one or two, that is your discretion. But you cannot accrue tags. If you dont use the tag in seasons one or two, you will only have one tag to use in either season 3 or season 4."

Just wondering, because it would determine whether I want to re-sign some of my players after this season, which would determine how available they are now.
Think of tags in a 2 year set. You have 3 tags to use in years 1&2, 3 tags in years 3&4, 3 tags in 5&6, 3 tags in 7&8, etc.
You can split them up and use 1 in year 1 and 2 in year 2. Use all of them in one year, use none of them in each set. However, these do not rollover. All tags must be used in that 2 year set.
