Incredibly Addictive Feature

So as usual I bought the '07 EA Sports Soccer Game. And for the first time I actually took it out for a spin and tried the challenges, etc. which of course make it a great game.

The reason for this post, though, is that I wanted to tell everyone about the feature that is available as you play the matches in "Manager Mode".

After each match your players performances are measured based on how each individual played during the game. As the season progresses you can use these points accrued to buy upgrades for your players skill sets.

I realize that this feature has also "kind of" been in the Madden games already by how much a player progresses, his ratings change. But what is SO ADDICTIVE, is the accuracy of the soccer game compared to others. Even after an entire season of great play with midfielder John Obi Mikel (73 OV) (Chelsea fans know what Im talking about), you can only get his OV rating to go up 2-3 points.

Now the goal of this post is to start the dialogue so that EA Sports puts this attribute buying feature into everyone of there sports games. Just picture finishing off a 220 point, 82 game season with Ales Hemsky, and actually getting a choice of what to help in his ratings.

Anyways, trust me its an addictive feature. One that would have incredible ramifications on my personal life (as it would no longer exist) if it were implemented in other EA Sports games.

FIFA, NHL and NCAA Football are their best games.  And as you know Rex, I'm pretty good at NHL. After I continually wiped the floor with you, but that's a different story.

I do enjoy that feature in FIFA. as it was something good.  However, building a team in FIFA 07 on XBOX 360 was too easy. I thought that the game was fun, and a step in the right direction, however I don't think FIFA has reached it's potential. Winning Eleven feels more like a soccer game, if you just focus on the game. Don't pay attention to the commentators, the player names, the clubs, the stadium, the pitch, etc. The way the ball and the players react in that game is enjoyable to watch. However, it fails in every other category. Which is why FIFA is looking to get better, and likely will.

NHL 08 looks promising, very promising, cant wait.  A new Coaching mode - with on the fly play calling, AHL, Better Defense. Hopefully it will be harder. Or hopefully it will be easier for every other person to beat me. I'm not saying that they made it too easy, but playing with Marian Gaborik made you feel like Neo in the Matrix, everything just slows down and you can just dominate.

NCAAFootball trumps madden every year, But I do prefer the College game to the NFL.  I like both, but NCAAFootball is #2 on my list and the NFL is tied at #3.  Rivalries are huge, and EASports adopts it well. Playing at OSU, Mich, PSU, FLA, Tenn, etc. the big stadiums in a rivalry game makes you appreciate and respect college football athletes. Such a great feeling.  Probably the reason why the NFL isn't ahead of NCAAF on my list, not enough good rivalries.

Those 3 games are nearly golden each year.  I like the 2k NHL series. it's a great game, but I just prefer EA's NHL effort a little bit more.
