Carey Price-Wow

The 5th overall pick of the 2005 draft has lived up to his draft position and more. Price's coach in the WHL said he's already NHL ready. That might not be quite as much of a stretch as some would have thought 8 months ago. The habs will be smart and wont rush, but his recent AHL stats are quite unprecedented.

Price leads the Calder cup in GP with 20 and is only 3rd in save 934% to Fred Brathwaite who only played 5 games, and barry brust who played 5 games as well. Price has only allowed 42 goals in 634 shots.

Price has led his Hamilton team to the Calder Cup finals after a very mediocre season (when price wasn't there).

Price was also honored as the MVP of the most prestigious tournament for players under 20, the WJHCs, over the likes of Peter Mueller, Jack Johnson, Erik Johnson, and Jonathan Toews.

The Sabres have received a flurry of trade offers for Price (most of which haven't been close), but with having the flexibility of Price and Harding the Sabres haven't been against entertaining offers for good young wingers for the young stud.

Don't look now but Carey Price is all of a sudden the most valuable prospect not named Johnson-and there are many who would say even more so then them.

Today Price finished off a legendary season in great fashion winning the Calder Cup MVP. Despite being outshot in all 5 games in the AHL finals, Hamilton took down Hershey in 5 games.

Price led the tourny in Save % (over 5 games), SOs, and Wins.
Hamilton had a .594 winning % without Price and .724% with Price in the net.

I can't remember the last player to win U20 WJ's Mvp and Calder Cup MVP as a rookie in the same year.

WIth the season Price posted many people can't help compare him to fellow Canadian Patrick Roy.

I threw up in my mouth.  Legendary?  Terry Sawchuk just rolled in his grave and George Hainsworth is coming back to beat the hell out of you.

The kid is good, very good.  Legendary?  Come on.

I agree.  it will be interesting to see who comes out on top of the goalie prospects: Price, Raask, Pogge, Montoya, Harding, Bernier, Irving, Helenius, etc.

I think Price has a good situation in front of him, so I think it will be up to him if he succeeds in the NHL.

Halak was as good in the regular season so no it's not legendary and they'll fight for the starting job once Huet's contract expires.

Georgey Georgy. In order to mock it's pertinent that you understand sentence. Okay, lets go over this again. "Today Price finished off a legendary season"

No where in the sentence George will you read "Carey Price is legendary"

Fact of the matter is..when a young guy does something unprecedented in this magnitude..it is legendary.

When was the last time a CHLer had a season that posted these accolades?:

Calder Cup
Playoffs AHL MVP (as a freakin 19 year old)
WJC Gold Medalist
WJC Goaltender of the tournament
WJC MVP
WJC First All Star Team
WHL First All Star Team
WHL Goaltender of the year
CHL Goaltender of the year

If you look at the awards-no goalie who's yet to be in the NHL has ever had a better year. So in that regard his YEAR has been legendary.

PS for him to be legendary he needs 15 All star season in the NHL-so don't put words in my mouth.

Good year.  Incredible year.  Legendary is just a word I wouldn't use.

Fair enough. This is Aaron speaking whereas it was luke the start of this thread.

I'd say he had a legendary Junior/Pre-NHL Career by most standards, but you are right, thats not a word that should be used lightly. Its very debatable in this scenario.
