Sorry but some of these choices are absolutely retarded

I can't say I disagree with Matt, write-ins are allowed but most people are lazy so won't write-in anyone. I think GM of the year nominees could have been looked at more and I guess trades too but then again that's a pain to find.

Yes i do agree that the trades contender and trades rebuilding.. i have lots of write ins for that. i studied each trade. why it was made. if the player stayed on that team.. or traded away.. and studied each nominee for each award.. as long as ppl do their homework and doesn't choose the first 3names they see. we should be fine... but every gm i guess is entitled to their own opinion of the winner

Since a couple GMs have brought it to my attention.

Yes you can vote for your own players.

and 1 Vote per team.  Thanks.

I am a little bit shocked to see that the Crosby trade we made was not on the votes for trade of the year for a rebuilding team. I just want to make a case for this trade as an attempt to have it added.

When you are rebuilding a team, is it not true that acquiring a player you can build your entire franchise around is of absolute most importance?

We single handedly brought in THEE BEST building block any rebuilding team could ever acquire.

The trade was this:

Sidney Crosby (outscored Staal in points by 50!)
Dave Andreychuk (later traded for a 3rd rounder)
NJ 5th
NJ 6th

for

Erik Staal (good young player, dropped off a bit)
Ladislav Smid (scored 10 pts all year while logging decent minutes. Future number 4)
Tom Preissing (Unrestricted Free Agent)
Tampa Bay 1st round pick (bottom 5 pick in the first round)
2 Million Cash

If you ask me, we got Crosby at the best possible time and now have a future brighter than any rebuilding team BECAUSE of this trade.

it doesn't need to be added.. if you read eric's message. he said write in votes are allowed. so this would be classified as a write in vote. if ppl do their homework..

That should deserve some recognition from the league.  I'm not saying we should be voted as GM's of the year but man, a nomination would have been nice for all our hard work this year.

We drafted a team that was in contention throughout the whole year, lost Sundsy mid way, made some great trades to help out our team and actually made ourselves much better and finished first overall.

To be honest when I saw the list of GM of the year nominees i was pretty shocked to see some of the names up there. But drafting a good team wasn't grounds for winning the award..Otherwise TB, Chicago and Us would be tops. Its what you did after the draft that made you get nominated. What trades did you make once the season started which improved your team. PS no one who loses a player because of financial mismanagement will ever win that award, I don't care how great the other trades were. (i'm not saying whos fault it was; i'm just saying as a fact-no one will ever win the award or get nominated with the losing the player because of going over the cap.)

So you think Montreal shouldn't be on the list then?

Question, would you have made any moves if your team was tops in the league for most of the year?

Just my opinion but I think drafting a great team makes you a great GM.

I think that makes you a good GM is if you build a team for the short term as well as the mid-long term. Anyone can trade young players, picks or prospects for UFA's. It's not hard to trade for a Martin Rucinsky or Gary Roberts, it is hard however to upgrade Mark Bell to Alex Tanguay or Alex Kovalev to Vincent Lecavalier by making 2-3 deals, I know I've done both and it is MUCH harder.

Well what about next year? Do Gm's get continual recognition for drafting a good team? Or is it what they've done to change the team they have in the year?

I dont think a qualification of GM of the Year can change, right? So it needs to consistent every year. One year it can't be how a team has draft, traded, and moved lines around...and the next year just be how they have traded and moved liines around. You know what I mean?

This is already a joke, everyone is simply trying to pimp out them selves and then will write in thier own players for awards. the top vote getter for each award will probably win with about 4-5 votes. We may as well just forget about this now and disregard the results. Personally I don't think that I will even vote, or if I do I may as well just vote for all my own players and my self like everyone else is doing. I new as soon as the ballot came out that a select few would be on here right away bitching and complaining like normal.

Well, I just want the Crosby trade added.  Other than that, we'll vote, and we dont have many nominations so we cant really vote for ourselves in many.  I think you shouldnt be allowed to vote for yourself though.
