Order of events this summer?

Hey, Im just wondering what to expect once the stanley cup is awarded?  Is it possible to maybe have like a calendar with the specific dates be on it?  Maybe a template for every year could be made up?

- When does trading reopen?
- When are RFA's going to have negotiations?
- When does UFA status begin?
- When do contracts officially expire and players are off our rosters?
- When is the entry draft going to take place?
- How is the lottery draft going to take place? I would assume a live chat like we had for the fantasy draft?
- Do we have any arbitration policies if a player is tendered a qualifying offer but is not satisfied with the 3 offers made?
- Do Rookies from 2 draft years prior to this one (meaning 05 draft picks) require contracts or be re-entered into the draft similar to the NHL rules?  Obviously not applying to NCAA players, mind you.

I might add more, I had more things that I thought we should know about but I forget them now. Thanks

Oh yeah, heres another HUUUGE one

-When are rules going to be looked at for changes?  I would think after a full calendar year?  Possibly a couple weeks before training camp, any rules that were in question get raised to the surface for potential revision?  This should happen every year.

- When does trading reopen?
Trading will open the day after teams have payed for their Next Season Franchise Fee.

- When are RFA's going to have negotiations?
There will be a deadline as to when you can negotiate with an RFA, to be decided later.  It depends on when the draft is, and when we start the UFA signing.

- When does UFA status begin?
If you mean when does a player lose the "1" on his contract, and then becomes a UFA. Then that will happen in the Off-Season at some point.   IF your asking about when GMs will be able to sign UFAs. Then that answer is after the draft. Likely a few weeks after the draft.

- When do contracts officially expire and players are off our rosters?
Roughly a few weeks after the finals.  Maybe sooner.  It depends on when I add the new ratings to the sim, and click the button that Starts the New Season. You will not be able to trade UFAs for any reason.

- When is the entry draft going to take place?
To be determined. But to guess. I'd say some time early in June.  I won't cement a date just yet on that.

- How is the lottery draft going to take place? I would assume a live chat like we had for the fantasy draft?
The draft will take place live. Same way as the League draft.

- Do we have any arbitration policies if a player is tendered a qualifying offer but is not satisfied with the 3 offers made?
There are no arbitration Policies. I don't think we've come across a situation like this.  Almost all the players who were qualified by teams later signed within the 3 offers.  If you cannot sign a deal within 3 offers, regardless of qualifying, the player will likely be open to the public to sign later on.

- Do Rookies from 2 draft years prior to this one (meaning 05 draft picks) require contracts or be re-entered into the draft similar to the NHL rules? Obviously not applying to NCAA players, mind you.
Don't think I understand that question totally.  But I will say, any player who isn't in the BRHL2 can be drafted in the BRHL2 Entry Draft. Except for recent draft-ees of the 2007 NHL Draft.  Everyone else is fair game.

-When are rules going to be looked at for changes?  I would think after a full calendar year?  Possibly a couple weeks before training camp, any rules that were in question get raised to the surface for potential revision?  This should happen every year.
Rules will be looked at following this season. Probably one of the first issues affressed of the off-season.

Here is an Off-Season Schedule:

Rules
Make Payouts
Fill Remaining GM Spots
Accept GM Franchise Fees
Trading Opens
Ratings Released
Entry Draft
Deadline to sign RFAs / Tag UFAs
UFA / RFA Signing Period
Start New Season

I think that's about it for the off-season.  I have no dates assigned but this should give you an idea of the scheduling.

Heres another question for you ?

When Pittsburgh wins the cup, How long do we get to keep the cup before we have to return it.

We have many plans for it !

Of course we want to have our ticker parade in Pittsburgh........... but I thought it would be nice to take the parade to Columbus and Tampa Bay as well just to show what good sports we really are. smile.gif

Of course should Edmonton find there way to the final then arrangements could be made to go there as well LMAO     biggrin    winner.gif

Thanks, it really helps with the planning to know this kind of stuff.

Two more questions.

When abouts will the league get to the offers to RFAs from a few months back? I remember your excel sheet being messed up and so there was a large delay. Is it possible to do RFA stuff while the playoffs are going on? Seems like a good opportunity.

When will the BOD be addressed and any changes be discussed?

Also, might be a good idea to mention that I will not be on the BOD next year....something that should be looked at is figuring out who will be on the BOD next season....smile

All good questions boys, thanks for asking them for me.  Seeing that my team didnt make the playoffs (not by much), I'm eagerly awaiting the offseason festivities as well.  My young team is ready to do some damage this season and I'd like to ink my boys asap.  Good luck to all those still chasing Lord Stanley  -Joe NYRGM

The off-season doesn't start immediately after the playoffs do they?  cause there are still things that need to be completed, like the minor leagues playoffs... thats where my interest holds in order to make some money this year for my next year pay.

where does that in the order of getting things down this summer?

Looks like the Minor Playoffs will be held after I finish the Pro Finals. They will probably start within a day or two after the league champ has been crowned.

Even though they are a part of the normal season,  the minor playoffs will be the first installment of the off-season.  If you look at it from the stance that after the BRHL2 Playoffs are done, the off-season begins.

I agree with starting the offseason while the minor playoffs run. Its moreless because its hard to sim both at once, this gives us more to do anyways.

Also, we surprisingly have lots of things to take care of over summer, so we should get to it earlier rather than later so we dont run out of time.

Since we havent really gone through an offseason yet, and Gms arent sure what to expect really and when deadlines are for various things, a solidified itinarary might be a good idea for this first year so GMs arent confused or disappearing when there are important things to be taking care of.

Sounds good to me! Cant wait haha.

There will likely be a break in the middle at some point. It's something that I need, and something that needs to be done.

There aren't any dates with the off-season set, except I'd like to start the season close to the start of the NHL.

Another "kink" if you want to call it that. Is that I will be moving within a month or two. I will probably be out of commission for a few days to a week. So I will try to work up to the point to where I can get some stuff done before I move.

As one of the leaders of the league Eric, don't be afraid to start handing off duties elsewhere. I know there are many Gms in the league that would like to take some of the load of your and bryce's shoulders.
