Well I have a few minutes at work here today so I thought I'd check in, see how things are going. It's a little slow on the boards, but that's to be expected after teh trade deadline as the season winds down.
A couple of topics that have been addressed since I've been kind of gone.
1. Ratings - As I have said before, we will be adjusting the TOP end players to give them slightly better attributes as generally the guys that don't match their performance (and this is over both leagues) are the top end players. I say with confidence that your 2nd-5th liners are rated quite accurately and sim accordingly, but yes you can expect to see some attributes for the 1st line type players rise next season, whether that is reflected in their OV or not is irrelevant.
2. BOD - We put people in the BOD we were familiar with in my 10 years of FHL, or who came highly recommended, and that we knew had the experience at testicular fortitude to make proper decisions, regardless of where Eric and I stood. In hindsight the BOD gets WAYYY to much **** flown at them when they have been nothing but professional, and timely in their responses. - We will likely make a change or two, but it will NOT be a voted on process, we may mix a few spots up just for change and to keep things fresh, although if I had MY way we'd abolish it and Eric and I would run everything ourselves like I have in the BRHL with Ken.
3. RFA Signings - Basically, Eric and I stated earlier in the season that if you wanted to get a jump on RFA you could send them in, and we processed them quite timely in my opinion (except J-Bo who got lost in the shuffle, our apologies). Now we're busier and not as prompt, which is fine, as you will have plenty of time to resign your guys, and if you didn't do it earlier when you had the chance, that's not our fault. Keep sending them in, we will get to them.
4. Draft Lottery - We will go ith the exact replica of the NHL, if the 4th team jumps up to 1st, then they do in the BRHL2 as well.
I think those are the main things out there and I hope it answers some questions people have had. Now for another rant of mine. Please note, these are MY opinions only and do not necessarily reflect Eric's position.
- The main thing I seemingly overlooked when we started this process was the difference in GM styles from what I am used to in the BRHL. To be brutally honest I have been outright disgusted at the maturity level of some GMs, and their continual complaining and bitching about damn near everything. Now I understand that in a pay for league we can't run the league like a dictatorship, which is essentially how we've ran the BRHL for 8 years now. Things get put to a league wide vote occasionally, but at the end of the day, us commishes could outvote 28 GMs if we felt it necessary. Which I have stated is how I would prefer to run things here, but I realize that's a tough sell to GM's who haven't dealt with us and are putting their $$$ on the line, no matter what amount. However, with the BOD in place GM's need to put their own selfish interests aside and believe that we are working towards the best interests of the league. If we weren't what would be the point? If we were here to simply bilk you of your money we woudl have emptied the account and closed the league c'mon people.
- As any commish will tell you, the first 2 years of a league are what ultimately causes the league to sink, or stay afloat. Thats why 99% of leagues fold within the first 2 seasons. I can assure you that won't happen here, we are here for the long haul, however, we WILL be making changes in a few GM spots in the offseason. I've already been alerted by a few GM's they do not wish to be back, primarily because of the reasons mentioned above, and I am not willing to lose quality GM's for some that bring down the league as a whole. There is a level of respect and maturity that is expected, and that hasn't been here for the most part this season.
- I know there are some "flaws" that have popped up with a few rules, and they will be fixed for year 2. That is a continual process and I can pretty much guarantee that something gets modified every season, there's always new issues popping up, that's just the nature of an FHL league.
- I do have one request, If you do not plan on signing up for year two, please send us an email, it will be confidential, but it will give us more time to recruit and find replacements as well.
- We have some exciting races down the stretch for positioning, and the playoffs should be thrilling as there are plenty of teams who could conceivably walk away as the champion (sounds like the NHL). Good luck to everyone down the stretch.
Thanks Bryce, I agree with pretty much every thing you said and from my past experience what seems to create confusion is when there is confusion as to what is going on and that's been a bit of the case in the past few weeks since both you and Eric have been busy which is understandable, I've been there but I really think this post will clears things up. Thanks
Id like to apologize on behalf of Luke and myself for appearing to be a nag over the last couple months with several issues that directly effect our team. Like what you have said above, we are just trying to help iron out the kinks that are still in the league. Also in agreement to TB, we understand you have been busy and that confusion in leagues of this magnitude usually falls into where their isn't a ruling on something. Luke and I want the league to be fair because, quite frankly, we think we can beat all of you guys as long as it is a level playing field. Thats why we are bringing up subjects where we feel there are ways to use the rules in a team's advantage unfairly.
Nonetheless, we appreciate all of the work put into this league and will attempt to have less "short" responses to some posts made in an "antagonist" fashion towards our stance on a subject. :) I am thankful that the discussions (thats what I like to call them) are all being addressed in one way or another in a professional manner. That is basically all we ask as a paying GM. Eventually all of these imperfections will no longer exist in BRHL2 and all there will be left to do is compete. Once again thanks a lot, I think we are all working towards becoming a truly great league with these trials and tribulations.
Glad to see some changes suggested by some g.m.s were made, regarding ratings and lottery pick formula. Healthy leagues listen to the concerns and suggestions of their g.m.s and respect all opinions.
I also would like to thank the effort made to keep the league running smooth and having some experience at this type of thing I know what the headaches can be like. I also am glad the draft lottery was resolved the way it was. It is a great way to take care of it.
As far as anything else goes,
ALL HELL WILL BREAK LOSE IF PITTSBURGH GETS SCREWED HERE BY THAT POINTED NOSE COMMISIONER AND HIS BLACK STRIPED POSSE'.
LMAO
