Jaroslav Halak!

Awesome first start, should be in net again tonight against the Capitals. I've been talking about this guy for awhile now and no one seemed to believe me. Was drafted in the 9th round in the NHL, I got him in Round 37 here right behind Craig Kowalski.

He's dominated every league he's played in since 2003-2004, I doubt you can find another goalie with such stats and now he finally gets his chance.

What is it about French Canadians and goaltenders? the mystique attached to whomever plays in the net for les Canadiens is unmatched elsewhere in the hockey world.

They need to have something positive to talk about right now.  Cuz the rest of the team isn't doing much!

Who doesn't know that? *shrug*

Playing goaltender in Montreal, for les canadiens, is some kinda mystique thing, where great reverence (and great criticism if not great) is par for the course.

A special kind of pressure and... HYPE.

Probably it's due to the history of greats at that position in Montreal.

Probably true but I think it's like that in any hockey city where there is extensive media coverage. If Pogge was called up in Toronto and started a game it would be the same.

I totally disagree. I've read about the mystique of the goalie there. But whatever.

Thibault and Theodore were revered and held up as inherently great in Montreal but fans elsewhere disagreed when he left. No mystique.

Aside:
Was glad to see my prospect Nielsen score the game winner tonight against Halak, 'bout time, as his previous shootout goal game winner doesn't count on main stats. I expect Nielsen to have a regular line-up position next season as a full-fledged rookie, unless they keep playing him down the stretch here.

He wasn't horrible but it wasn't his best. I think his confidence is shakenup a little and he hasn't been himself. Hopefully he can recover soon.

He's 21 and has played 5 NHL games, little early to call him a bust eventhough I know you were jokin, and he was drafted in the 9th round so hard to be a bust at all lol.
Maybe I've overhyped him a little, but I still think he's a solid goalie although he hasn't impressed me so far, I know he's a lot better than that.

yeah he's sucking, he's really not himself, zero confidence and zero help from the team.
