The following deal was agreed upon by the Tampa Bay Lightning and the St.Louis Blues and will be processed after the playoffs.
To St.Louis: Alex Tanguay, Colin White, Gary Roberts, Mike Johnson and 15M To Tampa Bay: Alexander Semin, Brad Lukowich, Yann Danis, Stephane Robidas, Alexandre Burrows, Jason Ward, STL2 Y2007 and STL4 Y2007.
Semin has the most value in his contract given that he will be signed for less than a million for 3 years and his age. However he is russian...
I dont know really. I find it hard to evaluate what the actual value of 15 million dollars is. Its hard to tell.
I think it's a deal that helps us both, I estimated that I'll have about 40M with barely any caproom and now that still leaves me with plenty of cash but about 8-9M in caproom.
St.Louis had caproom but no cash so I think it's a deal that helps us both.
When does this deal go through? Technically it can't be evaluated until it actually can be processed.
I can't say im to pleased seeing someone invite someone into the league and then take his best player right away. Thatd be like the sabres who need a long term goalie (other than price which is 2 years away) inviting Florida into the league and trading them which looks to be a boarderline fair deal in which we would acquire Herik Lunqvist.
A few problems I have with the deal other than the friendship thing: -As most of you know St. Louis hasn't paid any money into the league-and as I do like Paul- he's not that committed to it, the last time he logged in was April 12th. Seems like there were way more GMs who were dismissed that at least logged on more than that.
-Semin already has a better rating than tanguay at 77OV and 83 SC (tanguay 76OV).
-St.Louis doesn't have a shot at signing enough big name free agents with the 15 M he got from TB to make a big impact, even make the playoffs- What is best for this team is to rebuild for 1 or 2 years and hold on to a rookie who scores 38 goals and has 35 assists.
Maybe i'm way out in left field with this one, but doesnt anyone else see potential for unfairness in this trade. If not, let me refer someone next year and then take their best young boarderline franchise player.
Tampa Bay definetely wins this trade by a landslide. Does it fall into the "unfair" category? I'm not sure, that's for the BOD to decide.
The problem is when memebers of the BOD are making these types of questionable trades. It's bad enough that it's a BOD member making a questionable trade, but it is even worse when he does it with a friend.
Paul did pay his 50 bucks like everyone else and in terms of value I think I lose, it just helps me because it helps me drop my payroll and Paul cna use the cash to sign some Free Agents with the caproom he has. For him the 15M is worth the difference in salary between Semin and Tanguay. So he basically gets White who is a very solid D signed for 4 years, Roberts who had a very good season and Johnson who is a decent 3rd line player for a UFA in Lukowich and a couple 4th liners.
On my end I drop my payroll a ton so I don't mind giving up those extra pieces who would be on my 3rd-4th line. Anyone who can't realize this is a huge deal for both of us either doesn't understand the value of cash for a team with no cash and a low payroll or thinks Semin is a god which he is not.
