Flames put 3 on IR


Following Sunday Night's game between the Sharks and Flames. Chris Drury, Aaron Ward and Janne Niinimaa were placed on Injured Reserve. Drury and Ward for a week, Niinimaa for 2 weeks.

Could this impact the teams move to acquire more depth before the trade deadline?

Also, you'll notice that suspended / IR don't count against the cap. Just a point if there are any FHL newbies still out there.

How are you guys keeping track of finances?

Say I place a player on the IR, that would save me some money going towards the cap. Then say I make a trade to replace that player. Will I not be over the cap once the IR player returns because the sim doesn't recgonize the fact that the player is/was on the IR at some point?

When you place a player on IR, say for 1 week, Eric looks at how many games you'll play within the next week (if it's Sunday then he looks at how many games you'll play between then and the next Sunday) and suspends the player for the appropriate number of games.

While that player is on IR you can exceed the cap by however much that player's salary is. Once the player comes off the IR you've got to get back under the cap.

As for checking the cap with IR I believe that's just done manually. so if I put Simon Gagne on IR (2,000,000) I'm allowed to go up to 41,000,000 but no further.
