The New York Rangers Gm Joe DesMarais pulled off the impossible in securing two solid goaltenders to backbone his young talented team for next season in Marc Denis from Colorado and Ilja Bryzgalov.
Going to the New York Islanders in one deal was veteran rightwinger Bill Guerin, and coming to the Rangers was Ilja Bryzgalov. In a seperate deal the Rangers acquired Marc Denis and some cash for Alexei Ponikarovsky and Min 3rd this year.
The Rangers hate moving Ponikarovsky but in order to get a goaltender like Marc Denis it was a no-brainer for the teams Gm. The Rangers happen to be very deep at great offensive youngsters both on the current pro and farm rosters as well as waiting in the wings as prospects.
"Overall we're extremely pleased with these two acquistions we made at the deadline and cant wait to see how they do for us in our next couple of games and in the future"-Rangers GM Joe DesMarais
To NYIslander: Daniel Tjarnqvist, Duvie Westcott, Ilja Bryzgalov, Pat Rissmiller, Tom Poti, Bjorn Melin, Karri Ramo, Tom Gilbert
To Boston: Chris Pronger, Doug Murray, Jocelyn Thibault, Ken Klee, Wade Brookbank, Denis Istomin, Viktor Dovgan

My team needed to immediately get up to the league minimum in salary after I found out that I couldn't add an extra farm player or two to get to the minimum (because have 25 on pro roster).
Guerin is a 74 ov with 20 NHL goals and on pace for 65-70 NHL points so he'll re-rate decent. And he has a 6 mill salary my team needs at the moment.
